My husband recently had surgery at Emory. They brought him in from a 3 hr surgery, and 3 hr recovery with out a pain pump, handled him roughly when bringing him up to his room. It took approx 3.50 hours to get him any relief of the pain. At the change of the nursing shift, the next nurse, told me and my husband that she was not coming to my husband's room to give him is pain reliever on the hour as she had 3 patients that came from surgery, and she did not have time. It was the worst hospital experience of our lives. I am sure there are worse things that could happen, but we expect the best from Emory. It was horrible, we thought we had experienced the worst when my husband came to his room from surgery with no pain medicine, but when the nurse came in and was going to remove the pain relief that we had arrived at, we were at a minimum, shocked. We hope no one else ever suffers like this. Our advice to anyone considering surgery is to discuss at length the pain management and nursing staff. However, what brought us to Emory was the Doctors. Our Doctors were the best. The next shift of nurses were much better. They were about the patient. All but Nurse Badger, she was a monster.
