Its the go to Sandwich shop for the office though our HR division keeps ordering from Palmers Deli for meetings. If someone is hungry and didn't bring their lunch the call goes out to who wants to order from JJs. Its a real advantage they deliver. The sandwiches are as healthy as you want and the bread is awesome. Like other sandwich shops they do get orders wrong from time to time but they always correct the order when told. Their delivery people are nice too. The fast food burger joints lost all our business once we discovered JJs.

I like Jimmy Johns Sandwiches....Not the corporation itself. I work at a Jimmy Johns and they have LOTS of rules. An entire 3 pgs single spaced in the handbook to be exact. My personal favorite is the rules which states you have to work 10 hours in a row to get a free sandwich. Bull. I know their food costs are low and they could afford to give employee meals, but I guess that cuts too much into the profit margin for their liking. I also enjoyed the speech about how you cant come to work smelling like smoke, smoke on your break (which you also need to work 10 hours to get), or after you get off if you are still in your uniform. Being a smoker, I found this policy mildly offensive and have never had another job where this is an allowable rule. Punishment for a smoking offense is immediate dismissal. The same punishment is suffered if you show up even 1 minute late without calling first. Lame but it gets better. You have to pay for your uniform...I would never spend 20 dollars on two poorly made T-shirts under normal circumstances, but had no choice when I was hired there. I've worked at Subway too and they treat their employees a lot better. Free uniforms, less rules, free sandwiches and you get a break. Moral of the story kids is don't work at Jimmy Johns

I visited my first Jimmy Johns in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. I am an African American male. When I approached the counter to buy a sandwich the employee behind the counter blurted out "we don't serve chicken here" and began laughing and giggling with her friends in the back. I have not been back since!

I drive from Phoenix to Tucson just to get a Jimmy Johns. Thats 180 miles RT. I went to school at Eastern IL Univ, practically grew up on JJ's. I love their newest #17 the Ultimate Porker.I just wish they would open a JJs in Phoenix

I LOVE Jimm.....LOVED Jimmy John's until about an hour 2 hours ago!! You see, I live on the wrong side of town. My daughter and I called in a sandwich order to be delivered and when asked my address the employee informed my daughter that he could not deliver past Broad St (the main St. which is also a hwy). Now, I don't know if I just haven't ordered a sandwich to be delivered for a while but I thought it was a flippin' joke. My daughter says to me while she's on the phone.."Mom, they don't deliver past Broad Street" I said "What?" She said they can't deliver past Broad St. I'd had a long day. I even asked her if it was one of her friends playing a joke on her. She asked them if it was a joke and the person said "No, Corporate come in here and said that they can no longer deliver past Broad St. because it might take longer than the 15 minutes or whatever it is they promise. WHATEVER!! I live in FREMONT NE.!!! It's a town of about 28,000. Half the town is on the other side of Broad ST. They are out on the east edge of town where the only thing to the north of them is WalMart. The only thing to the east of them is Applebee's then Hwy 275. So I wonder if there is a cut off point to the south also since they are on 23rd St and there is obviously more than 2 miles to the south of them and beyond. The other thing is that I usually eat Jimmy John's at least 2-3 times a week. If I am out at WalMart I may pick up a sandwich on the way home. (Which by the way, I HAVE seen the workers NOT wear gloves also. That should probably be reported. I didn't really want to because I like them so much but now....who cares) The other thing is....I work at the Hospital here in town and I know that we order sandwiches at LEAST once a week if not more. Which they charge $1 per sandwich to have it delivered. And that's just MY department of 30! Imagine how many they deliver throughout the whole Hospital. I am NOT ordering from Jimmy John's anymore on principle. OH, and the employee said that it is a $10,000 fine for the store if they get caught doing that. He was nice enough to offer to MEET us somewhere along Broad St. If I was going to get in my car to meet him, I would have just drove out there to get it. OR we could drive over to my daughter's house who's is on the RIGHT side of town. I have never heard of anything so stupid.

You just can't seem to get it right, every time! My children love the product/the bread and I continue to pay for it - delivery, take-out or eat-in. Not anymore! We are done, stick a fork in it or me for allowing the oversights to continue! I have ordered dozens upon dozens of times for the kids and their friends who constantly are hanging out here - - and the orders are always wrong and embarrassing to me when they arrive. (Mine is the house they always congregate and when I order something, I expect it to be correct) I might as well order the day old bread as that is the only thing that happens to show up correctly. I can make my own sandwiches; I can go to the grocer and do that! I have spoken to the "manager" about my previous orders being wrong every time and was supposed to get a refund on one as I received someone's order that was not even mine! We'll stick with pizza, and other local companies that have great food, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction and care - thank you! Signed; Could be one of your best customers! And all the while I was looking for a franchise. NOT THIS ONE!BTW - I do not expect to hear from you.

Great concept, but the portion sizes are wildly inconsistent, and the subs are just plain sub-par. ordered a Beach Club that's made with Turkey and Provolone, got two slices of turkey and two slices of cheese. Wrote the company about it, and they say the #12 Beach club comes with double the provalone. Way to go guys, charge extra for double the cheese, then leave it up to the franchisees to skimp... Why'd I pay $7.00 for a sandwich that comes with 2 slices of meat? I've lived in New England, and I'm a huge fan of sub sandwiches from any local pizza joint in Boston/Maine/Vermont. And I've never ever paid $7.00 for anything there that didn't feed three people... Also, big frowny downer points for not being able to put hot peppers (and I mean the chopped peppers or pepperoncini you'll see in any real sub shop) or even pickles (which you can get on the side... for extra) on the sandwich. We're all looking for a little more value in our purchasing these days... Jimmy John's seems to be skimping on product to make their margins.

This joint sucks. In today's world and economy, customer service is all you've got. It's pretty sad to pay $5.99 for......a sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and mustard (yes, that's it). Even worse, I had to put the mustard on the sandwich myself. Laughable at best. That is the first and LAST time I pay to put mustard on my bread and lettuce. Hey, 13 dudes behind the counter...I could've made my own sandwich and saved most of that $5.99. My question was, "Can you make my sandwich since I paid you to do it?" The answer is obviously NO. Go back to high school kids. HOW MANY JIMMY JOHN'S DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A SANDWICH? NONE, because you pretty much will have to do that yourself....after you pay the 13 dudes behind the counter.

So delicious but too expensive.
zuchinibut 01/16/2009
My sister in law raves about Jimmy John's and was ecstatic when she saw we have one by our house. Its been here for a couple of years and I finally tried one today. Its not a bad sandwich, but there is absolutely nothing special about it either. The ingredients weren't bad, but didn't stand out at all. It wasn't overly filled, but wasn't too expensive either. Its probably on par or a little better than Subway, but if I needed to choose a lunch from a chain sub shop, I would definitely choose Quiznos. Sure Jimmy John's would be a more cost effective choice, but I'd rather pay a few bucks more and get a meal that I would enjoy a whole lot more as well.
Tadly 12/17/2008
Would get a ood if they used Plastic gloves while making sandwiches in Pekin Ill. we saw a guy wipe hands on uniform then use cash register, then make a sandwich, then used cash register, then we left.
m0u5y 12/16/2008
Each shop must be different because I honestly have to say that the Jimmy Johns down the street from where I live makes great sandwiches. No, they're not so big only a fat guy can finish it, but the balance between lettuce, meat, bread etc... is perfect. Their roast beef sandwiches are awesome and their avocado spread is great. We use to order a sandwich from them often at my office and would crave them every day, especially when I was too busy to bring my own food. Now, I wouldn't buy them every day now because they're too expensive and I need to save up to get a house at some point. But they're a great treat for days I'm just too tired from work to cook. I would love one right now....

Wow, what a sandwich!!!
fuckerfuck 11/15/2008
they dont deliver to the north side. FUCK THEM
dmoon 09/29/2008
The worst sandwich I have ever had. Way over priced and they hardly put anything on it. You are really just paying for bread. Very disorganized. I will never eat there again or recommend it.
Chalky 09/23/2008
Smells are free.
MastaPeace 08/30/2008
I do personally love these subs. I also work at a Jimmy John's myself. All the rules that people are having problems with could be easily undone with a little effort on their part. Slims come with MEAT and CHEESE. That's it. It's not hard to remember. If you're so lazy as to not to get as many mustard/mayo packets as you would like and put them on your own sandwich, I would not care for your business at all. Also, the mile radius we have isn't the best but c'mon, if you're 1.5 miles away from the store, drive there and get it yourself. We do have pickup options people. We also are not as large as the other sandwich shops like Subway and Quiznos, so our work force is quite limited and for more productive service, we shortened our delivery radius for you, the customer. The food is superb and all of the people I work with are nice and pleasant. Don't blame the franchise if you get bad service cause I know for a fact it is not the store's fault, it's the employees.
mtastic 08/03/2008
I was never a big fan of Jimmy John's until I recently tried a menu item called the Vito. It was tasty and the bread enhanced the quality of the sub, so often the bread on a sub is lacking at other restaurants. We got it delivered, which was nice, and it was quick and accurate.
DIGGY78 07/13/2008
JIMMY JOHN'S ROCKS!!! THEY ARE ALL ABOUT SIMPLE, FAST, AND DELICIOUS. THEY ARE THE ONLY SUB SHOP THAT DOES ALL OF THEIR OWN FOOD PROCESSING, THAT'S FRESH! THIS IS WHY THEY HAVE THE LIMITED MENU. 6 MEATS, 2 BREADS, 1 CHEESE, SIMPLE LIKE IN-N-OUT.
night4 06/11/2008
Absolutely horrific. I ordered a sub today, got the wrong one, requested another, send the old one back, and the manager called me to tell me he didn't think I got the wrong one and was rude and confrontational. Could not have been more upset. They need 0 stars.
Lexi7732 05/01/2008
Jimmy Johns rocks, someone is always ordering in my office, we even have a special day during the week when everyone orders JJ's. I love it, better than Subway, the food is fresh, cut everyday! LOVE IT
sandwicheater 04/29/2008
I went to a Jimmy Johns for the first time today and I was shocked. Uninspired, boring sandwiches at half the size and all the cost of the half dozen nicer sandwich places on the same block. I couldn't imagine how they could stay in business with such pointless sandwiches and 13 people behind the counter (my jaw dropped when I saw that). That many employees also made the place too loud to put up with. I'd put them on par with airline food. When crap like Subway puts you to shame, you know it's time to go out of business. I simply cannot believe they're making an honest profit.
madindurham 04/08/2008
"I now understand why this a million dollar franchise", I first tried jimmy johns at there new location at the (RTP location) Durham, NC, on dollar sub day three weeks ago (1) piece of meat on the sub and it weighed about 3 oz's. Then i tried it again today(4/2008) same sandwich $4.80 later and it was worst no to mention they offered me cheese for and additional dollar. I'm from the Philadelphia,Pa area and $4.80 would get you a footlong with 6oz's of meat on it with cheese for free. Please find another sandwich shop, where you can get your money's worth or visit on "DOLLAR DAY" because that's all Jimmy John's is worth. rating is 1 because the bread is good.
ObannonFan 03/28/2008
This site really needs a 0 star option considering it has a page for Jimmy Johns. Our office has JJ platters delivered every other Friday, but even at no cost more than half of us won't touch anything but the bottles of soda. A couple weeks ago I made the mistake of biting into one of their individually wrapped yet somehow stale cookies... It was so petrified with age I thought about playing frisbee golf with it, but it literally would have killed a man if thrown errantly. I can't think of another food establishment in the city that I wouldn't eat at for free. Jimmy Johns sucks and thats sad.
djnytblaste 02/16/2008
I know someone that works at a JJ's store (not disclosing store location or friends name), but I will say it is in Des Moines, Iowa. This is the WORST store I think that someone could work for. My friend has been sexually harassed, bullied 24/7 (long story, not what you think) and is so abused by employees in that store that should have been fired the first day they were hired, but are still there for some reason. If I can warn anyone, DONT work for this company. Their "MANAGERS" (and I put that in quotes,,,their managers are nothing but kids trying to play "look at me, I'm in the 'corporate' world') are the worst people trying to 'run' a store I have ever seen, and I grew up in Fortune 500 corporate settings. Their food is nothing to be talked about. With the sexual harassment complaint my friend made, the guy is still working there, didnt get a suspension or anything, just went on working with NO repremand. So, if anyone reading this learns anything, DONT WORK FOR THEM! We need to start an online "Past employees and customers abused from JJ's" site I think. Who's up for it?
Buttercookie 01/12/2008
Jimmy Johns hired my son knowing he was only 17 and had him deliver for 2 weeks. When they issued him his first check they fired him for not being 18 which they knew before they hired him. It was a hassle getting the 20 dollars they charged him for uniforms back. Are they in the sub business or are they making their money hiring people and making them buy uniforms. Our family and close friends are now silently boycotting JJs
subthis1 12/29/2007
I love the product. It is consistant and fast. Now that JJ is in my neighborhood, I will no longer frequent any other sub shops (especially subway and quiznos)
karsonneuman 12/25/2007
Jimmy John's will give you mustard packets if you order a slim sandwich, but they will not put the mustard on the sandwich for you. If you want them to put the mustard on your slim, you will have to pay at least an extra dollar to get it, even if you do not want the onions, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. When I go into Jimmy John's, I expect for them to make my sandwich for me. When I have to get into my car and complete my sandwich by putting mustard on it, I get very upset. Go ahead and try it...Go to a Jimmy John's and order a Slim 5, no capocola, and ask for mustard on it. See what happens. They'll tell you no. I complained to their corporate office and they gave me some lame excuse about why they can't put mustard on their Slim sandwiches, yet they can give me packets of it for free. Their food is good but their management SUCKS!!!
vikingscool 12/23/2007
JJ get 2 stars out of 5.. I don't recommend this. I prefer go it for Milio's Sandwiches that I recommend for whose are eating for turkey as #13 turkey classic, also they have a best french bread sub ever!! THEY ARE BEST SUBS RESTAURANT EVER!!! Plus, you can order from delivery Milio's just like as delivery pizza-man can do. EDIT: I almost to forget to tell you, this is more expensive than Milio's.
rmsorlie2641 09/20/2007
They won't deliver to my residence which is 1.5 miles away from their establishment. Pretty weak for a company that emphasizes their delivery service.
BugahaNE 05/08/2007
Guess I'm missing something, my co-workers talk like this is the greatest sandwich in the world. To me it just tastes like a lunchmeat sandwich I could make at home.
The42Voice 04/24/2007
Greatness for their simplicity and the magnificent french bread. I love the fact that you have a choice of Provolone cheese or no cheese. And you can't get Ranch friggin' dressing for love nor money HUZZAH (and F Hidden Valley)
alazz911 03/28/2007
The best sandwiches ever. reasonably priced.
minkey 12/29/2006
Pretty solid sandwich. I was surprised to have ordered it and have the sandwich wrapped and in front of me before the cashier gave me back my change. At first glance, it looked to be on the small side for an 8" sub, but they go heavy on the meat. The sub roll was on the chewy side. As a kicker, they seem to have classic rock going all the time; Kiss, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses...pretty cool.
jimorama 06/05/2006
Had one in Des Moines and went back to New England feeling really sorry for those poor folks in Iowa. They dont know any better.
cdoc77 01/03/2006
Weak. Even Subway blows them away.
astaples 08/30/2005
A real treat here in Lawrence, KS. I highly recommend trying one - not just an ordinary sandwhich. I don't mean to say that it's going to knock your socks off either, but they are very good and typically run by people who actually care about their customers and the store. Restaurant is always clean, people are always friendly, I always enjoy my lunch.
kingguiness 06/13/2005
They are down the street from my work. Sometimes we order but nobody here is overwhelmed.
AEnzhRu 03/03/2005
Not even half as good as Hogi Yogi or Blimpie's, much less Subway -which the best national sub chain in my opinion. The bread is quite often stale, and the toppings -quality wise and sheer variety- are quite mediocre. The very name gourmet sandwiches is very inaccurate and an absolute joke. The sandwiches have the appearance and taste of a very amateur homemade sandwich, no exaggeration. You know that a restaurant that boasts real mayonnaise as a primary amenity of their sandwiches is pathetic and doesn't have much going for them. At least the Jimmy John's in my town delivers (what other sub chains deliver?) to residences and their deliveries are pretty fast.
midwesterner19 01/31/2005
Very expensive. The bread is not bad, the customer service is sinful. The meat like Schlotzky's is almost non-existant.
macattak 10/20/2004
JJs beats the heck out of Subway and is a bit better than Blimpies. Try the gargantuan after you've worked your a$$ off allday and you're starving - it'll take care of you.
TaxNSpend 07/28/2004
They are quite overrated! The sandwiches are decent, but not great. For the price, there are MUCH better options, though!
aero43 03/31/2004
DIDNT really like this place. There mustard was ok. But they dont have that great of a selection, Besides plain mustard on a sub isnt right. Choose quiznos its much better!
chrisk1177 03/17/2004
Ok food fast.
Bobtone 03/16/2004
I still remember the first time I went and my sense of taste awoke to a whole new level. Awesome man Awesome. I wish it was closer to me I would go there all the time. Talk about Taste sensation.
optionfootball 03/14/2004
The Slim Jim sub is a waste of time, go home and make your own.
fladuck 10/20/2003
If you've never stopped by Jimmy Johns, and are lucky enough to have one in town- next time you're hungry do yourself a favor and stop in for a sub. Since I started college last year it's been my favorite food joint in town. Huge sandwiches, fresh bread, "real" meats, good vegetables- and they slice it all in the store. none of that processed crap. The bread is the best i've ever had too, anywhere (sorry ma) from... mmm, they're open till three think I might just order some now that I think about it...
rhyno09 01/09/2003
Jimmy Johns is far better than Subway. They combine great service with fresh meats and veggies that are bursting with flavor. I also like the meats because they are not processed like Subway. THeir service is great and you get your sandwich almost immeadiately after ordering even though they are not pre made. I would eat here anyday over subway or any other chain. It is delicious and healthy! Look out Subway!!
buckybadger 01/05/2003
The sandwiches are great and so are the pickles. I also enjoy all of the signs that are used to decorate the sub shop.
pattifawver 01/05/2003
This is the only gourmet sub sandwich shop that I have been to where you can taste all of the individual ingredients and not just the bread. This is also the best bread that I have ever tasted on a sub.
