 | BustinDustin (7) 08/14/2007 | Did this once, will NEVER do it again. You have to get down there early, about 2 PM in the afternoon. You and whoever you are with are corraled into a steel pen, like cattle, and that is your spot...you must stay there until the ball drops at midnight. Well I just had to do it once, for the experience, but it was a horror. There are cops everywhere, and if you have to leave to go to the bathroom or for any other reason you will lose your spot in the "pen" and they won't let you back in. This was after 9/11; supposedly it was a lot different before 2001, people had a lot more freedom to move around. And of course it had to be in the low 30's that night, we were freezing. Of course the next day, New Years Day, it was over 50 degrees. Go figure!

 | CatCounts (0) 12/28/2003 | As a New Yorker, I can tell you I honestly feel it's a BAD idea. Even though it would be nice to say I have done it, it's not worth it. I know several groups of people who have attempted it. You have to get there early in the morning and wait ALL day. You can't drink, use the bathroom, or even leave your pen. Plus, it's COLD here in December! So even though it is the center of the universe on New Year's Eve, it's better to watch it on TV!

 | Snoopy (3) 01/15/2002 | I've never gone myself, but I watch on TV every New Years and it looks like so much fun. I'll have to try and go one year, maybe with CastleBee in 2007!

 | CastleBee (81) 01/08/2002 | I would love to do this! It would be like being in the center of the universe at a historic moment in time. I’m not sure I have the stamina to stand around for hours in the cold just to make sure I had a spot – but I suppose I could work up to it. Maybe I'll shoot for the 100th anniversay in 2007. If I do go, I will definitely not wear a watch and what money I take will be small and well hidden.
