11/17/2003 | Just Like Heaven is one of the most accessible singles from the Cure (or in other words, you can dance to it) from one of the band's must accessible full-length efforts, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987). The song is also one of the group's best (which is saying a lot). Robert Smith breaks from the world of dark, Gothic music to bring listeners of all music genres an upbeat, fast tempo single that might be the most recognizable song ever recorded by the Cure, identified almost immediately with the opening strumming bass and pounding percussion. Remarkably, Just Like Heaven barely scratched the U.S. charts, only a single week in 1988 at #40. The song has been a favorite cover of the Cure (eg Dinosaur Jr. and Goldfinger).
