 | VirileVagabond (32) 11/18/2003 | Fascination Street is one of the harder singles from the Cure and one of the harder tracks off of the band's darkest full-length effort Disintegration (1989). The song is built almost entirely on Simon Gallup's driving bass which practically drags the rest of the band through the song, including Robert Smith's vocals. In fact, one gets the impression that Smith is frantically trying to keep up with the music. The end result is a Cure single that remains Gothic, but feels breathless. Artists looking for a Cure single to cover have often looked to Fascination Street, including Stavesacre, Chimaira, Closet Culture, and Engine.
