I don't really care for Asian food all that much.

I'm addicted to sashimi and sushi. I'm less fond of the tempura stuff, and like Genghis, I can pass on the wine.

Their beer is pretty ghastly too.

I guess it is o.k., but I can do without the hot wine.

Wasn't a fan of the sushi but that's only a wee little bit of what is available. Blame the sushi misconception on tools from California, I guess. I always used to get me some Yakisoba from that scumbag little place at the bottom of the hill from my base in Okinawa. Man, I wanna go there right now. Too bad its a day on a plane away...

I do love sushi. They do some fine cooking, but Memphis is not known for fine Japanese cooking.

I've had some excellent Japanese dishes over the years.Sushi was such a fad for awhile that many people don't realise how much more there is to Japanese food.As for sushi, some of it's fine, some nasty as all.Try the Sashami, too!

I am a huge fan of Japanese culture and their food is only one of the many great things about the Japanese. Japanese food is great because is very healthy and balancing. Miso soup and egg flower soup are yummy. Green tea is always a classic. Fish and rice are healthy. fried veggies and sauces add to create a unique meal. Then of course there is sushi for those die hard raw fish fans......

I'm not much into eating raw fish so that excludes a large part of Japanese cuisine. The food is very healthy tasting and uses delicate flavors if you like that but for me I prefer savory foods like you can find in Chinese cuisine and Mongolian bbq.

I love Japanese food! My whole family is addicted to Sushi, which is only bad for the pocketbook, so it's not too bad of a thing! Even my 4 yr old granddaughter is a sushi-freak. All she has to do is say sushi and my husband says let's go. Although he does blame me for putting her up to it, which is not true. She really does it on her own. Honest!

Yep. Living in Korea, there is quite a variety of Japanese restarants to choose from. Like many here, I too was a bit reserved about eating raw fish but i guess it's an acquired taste. I'm suprised nobody here has mentioned shabu shabu. Healthy, delicious but pricy. I will recomend avoiding the raw octopus. Although, I think this might only be reserved to Korean style sashimi (or Hway).

I have only had this a couple of times so I can't really say too much. What I had was OK.

Japanese food is an acquired taste. It isn't as good as Chinese, but it is good if you're looking for challenges. The only problem is, sushi does not satisfy Western appetites, unless of course, you are looking for a high bill. Unfortunately, Japanese food tends to attract the pseudo-intellectuals, so when you dine out, be prepared for the freaks.

I remember i used to look at sushi(being raw fish) in a suspicious way but now i simply love it! It is even more delicious with soy sauce and other special sauces, although I haven't tried wasabi yet!

I love sushi. Sushi is the closest thing to manna from heaven. Everything just tastes great with rice, horseradish, and soy sauce. Some of the other Japanese dishes are hit and miss. Hibachi, though pricey, is quite good. I'm not a fan of Beef Yakisoba, Miso soup, or Sukiyaki. But Sushi, I can eat it by the ton. If you ever make it to California, I recommend the Todai restaurants (Gigantic sushi buffet at a reasonable price).

I must say, I love Japanese food. I admit I haven't tried much of it besides sushi, but I can't resist going to every Japanese restaurant in town and ordering myself a plate of sushi and sashimi. I must say, the food quality is rather dependent on the restaurant itself. Some serve it fresh and make the sushi roll right in front of your eyes, while others, I'm afraid to say, cut up pre-made sushi rolls that are stored in the fridge for I don't want to speculate how long, that don't taste fresh in the least. So if you don't like it in one place, try another! I recommend the california and dynamite roll; they are my favorite! And for all the people who are concerned with nutrition, Japanese food in general is very healthy and light.

There's nothing like going to a hibachi grill and watching the chefs do their thing . . . Food that's fresh and invigorating, there are plenty of choices for both meat lovers out there as well as vegetarians. And, as far as sushi and sashimi go--it depends on the place you go to, but if you find a reputable place, it's actually not too bad. There are plenty of choices that don't include raw fish or even any meat at all. Oh, and despite what ANYONE tells you, that's NOT mint sauce that they're serving with the sushi!

Japanese food is wonderful, everything that the Japanese do turns into an art form. Nothing beats chowing down on plate after plate of sushi. At 100 yen, you can't beat the price :)

You will never have a bad meal if you eat in an "authentic" Japanese restaurant. The Japanese take pride in serving an excellent meal and would feel hurt if you left not satisfied. Plus it is very healthy, they use the freshest meats and vegetables available.

I absolutely love Japanese food!! I am half-Japanese but didn't really start eating my culture's food until about 6 years ago. I never knew raw fish tasted so good. Japanese is and always will be my favorite food to eat.

Two years ago was the first time I tried sushi. After 5 visits to the same restaurant I fell in love with it. I was very reluctant in trying RAW FISH but in the end found a food that I love sushi more than any other food.

I cannot think of any kind of Japanese food that I did not enjoy. I could eat this stuff every night. Especially love maguro, unagi, miso soup, tempera, wasabe, and every kind of sushi I have ever tried...
