Horribly expensive cost of living---in fact, the second worst in the nation (behind San Francisco). I lived there for almost four years, and never had a place I could call home. It is a rent-a-room kind of town. It does have an extremely diverse populace, and nearly unheard of tensions between any particular group. Jobs are aplenty, but it is a worthless endeavor if you cannot afford to pay over $1000 a month for a studio.

A very good alternate to San Fran. Despite that the capital of Silicon Valley is where the upper middle class usually live, there are lots of fun things to do there and the culture is diverse.
