I love Vegas so much. It really is a Disneyland for Adults. I actually prefer Vegas off the strip. Even the "normal" areas of the city have a vibrancy all of their own. It's also pretty cool to stand in the middle of a developed city and see desert mountains surrounding you! I love to take drives out to Red Rock Canyon and over towards Hoover Dam to see more of the natural side of the area. Vegas has it all- adult parties times to family fun and games to outdoor activities! I love this city!

Nothing to do but see cheesy theatrics? Is this guy on crack? Vegas is awesome place to gamble, party, eat and see any show on earth. You have cabarets, broadway shows, magicians, comedians, concerts, boxing....any and everything. Where else can you even remotely have as much entertainment? Plus Vegas has a lot of 5 start restaurants for you snooty types. You can go skiing at www.skilasvegas.com just 39 miles from downtown Vegas. You can also go boating on Lake Mead too and enjoy nice weather year around. But I guess you boring types want to hang around the library & museums all day. You think reading about life is culture, people in Vegas are actually living life.

a shrine to greed and excess in the desert. least educated population of a major city. low paying service level jobs. yuk.

I visited Las Vegas for a day and would say that it is not a town for my types. Gambling and sleazy bars is all that it is about. It is the place for people having fat pockets. It has an appropriate advertising campaign "What ahppens here remains here." Want to get indulged in deeds that you want to hide from others? Go for it... As a tourist, I would rather visit places with natural beauty like the snow covered mountains and ski resorts of Colorado, the Grand Canyons, Niagara Falls, Mackinac Island etc.

This should be aptly name the City That Never Sleeps instead of NY. If I had countless amounts of cash I would have trouble ever leaving. I take an annual pilgimage every June to make my donation to the local economy though this year I actually went home with a grand. The MGM is by far my favorite casino all around but The Palms has the best nightlife with Rain and Ghost Bar. I have never run out of things to do in Vegas- I've even gone sky diving in the Hoover dam area.

In terms of sheer fun and a salute to capitalism, it's hard to beat Vegas. I don't think I'd ever want to live in the city (though the schools are superb, because a lot of the money from gamblers flows into the city), but in terms of sheer fun, it's a good place to spend a few days.

THERE IS SIMPLY NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT GAMBLE AND/OR SEE CHEEZY THEATRICS. BUT IF GOT $$$$$$$$$$$$$ GO FOR IT.

If you visit Las Vegas, chances are you will go again. Without a doubt, one of the premiere vacation stops in America.

Definitely one of a kind. I was only there for one night, but I was remotely impressed with what I saw. I hate that some people go there and gamble away their life savings, but it's still a place worth seeing.
