My wife and I just arrived back in Colorado after 5 days in downtown SLC (we went to a financial workshop). We went to several outstanding restaurants in the downtown area as well as a place called Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon east of the city. Never, never, ever, ever had a problem getting a drink. While we were waiting for our table at Log Haven, the Maitre 'D asked if we wanted a mixed drink or if wed like to sit at the bar while we waited. The weather was warm and beautiful and we dined next to the waterfall. We were treated like guests everywhere we went and nobody looked at us like we had 3 heads or something. I also noticed in every restaurant, MOST people were having wine or mixed drinks. The idea that SLC is dry must be perpetuated by people who hate Mormons or have never been to this town.

I live just south of Salt Lake in the City of West Jordan. I would just like to say that this is a great place to live. Salt Lake is a place where religous and cultural differences are excepted by most of the general population. With a low crime rate, and good schools, the Salt Lake Region is a good place to start a family and raise your kids in relative peace and safety. Another incentive is with many neiborhoods and nearly 30 high schools, you can almost certainly guarentee that you will have kind loving friends and neibors. If you are looking for a good place to live and work I would encourage you to invest in a home in Salt Lake or Utah or Davis counties.

I live here and I do not recommend coming here. If you ski then maybe you'd have a good reason to live here but even that is seasonal. FYI I don't ski. The economy is terrible and the freaking mormons are holier than thou. If you like people telling you how live, act and think and that the moment you start thinking for yourself you'll end up in Hell then this is the place for you. There is nothing to do in the city itself. All of the real cool attractions are hours away in southern Utah.
