The only moron is you! I don't live in Atlanta but I would put it up against any city in the United States. It obviously has great appeal to more people than not or i would have to wonder why over 100,000 people come here to live every year. I would guess many of the bloggers are from such great places as Detriot, Cleveland or other areas that are just barely hanging on. I take every chance I can to visit what I consider to be one of the great cities of this country.

Yeah, Atlanta sucks, not so much because of the city itself, but because of the horrible suburbs just outside it. Namely Fayette County and its hellhole Peachtree City!

atlanta is a beautiful city. lots o jobs. good climate. but traffic is ridiculous, and the people are, i dont know, they are all transplants, so there is no uniqueness or anything.

Atlanta has it all! You can't rate the ATL by spending a weekend in the downtown area. With only 500,000 people living in the "city" and over 4.3 million living in the 'burbs. There is more to the city than you can imagine. The ATL is somewhere you need to live to appreciate!

Not on it's life. Of which it has very little. Filled with transplants from other areas, who think they are too good for their hometowns. One of the worst suburban sprawls in the country, horribly hot from May to September, and some of the worst traffic you will ever see. No thanks, AND FINALLY, acording to the latest census, growth in the Atlanta area has slowed by a pretty decent amount. As a matter of fact, the cit of Atlanta itself, and the county it is in, Fulton, are actually LOSING population. Granted, most of them are moving to the overcrowded and oversprawled suburbs. But it is still good to see a city losing population that actually deserves to.

One of the highest crime rates in the nation (when I first moved there in 1990 was on 2 class field trips where we had to get under our seats because of shootings), traffic is terrible, people are some of the rudest I have ever met, and worst of all, Peachtree City to the south in the snobbiest place I have ever been.

didn't like it. looked like a burning hot city surrounded by ropes of highway. plus the people in Atlanta were just morons. but it was the South so i didn't expect much. they're still fighting the Civil War.

Hotlanta is a cool city. I was there for the NCAA Final Four weekend + and had a nice time. I hit all the main spots - The Underground, MLK house, CNN tour, Buckhead, Peachtree street etc....and found the place to be pleasant. Atlanta seems a bit like Miami/South Florida in that it's not quite as representative of the South because of the transplants who have come to the city and the major companies that have made the city home. There is a southern feel to it though , but Atlanta is The New York of the South. Atlanta has a large Black professional population as well. It is a mecca for upwardly mobile Blacks.

Atlanta is disappointing in some ways, because given its Civil War history and southern location, you'd expect a fascinating historical city with southern charm. Instead it's just another big city - if you didn't know you were in the south, you'd never know from just being in Atlanta. Worse, the endless sprawl of the city makes traffic and getting around impossible. There are some nice features here - Piedmont Park is beautiful and has a nice view of the skyline, CNN is interesting, and Olympic Park is nice, but for the most part this is just a city to connect through at Hartsfield Airport - which is a shame.

What would you do there? If you visited before opining, you would find Stone Mountain, a growing sense of culture, entertainment for the family (Six Flags, a fine zoo, Symphony and Fine Arts), a wonderful college rivalry (Ga Tech/Georgia), great pro sports venues, as well as nearby Mountains, Lakes and coastlines.
