Miami is my second hometown. I spent many summers there and have fond memories always! The city explodes with the heat and the heat of the fantastic people who live there. South Beach is a must for any visitor looking for a good time, but there are also many other areas of Miami, which are just as wonderful but not as popular. The beaches are amazing and so are the fresh local juices-yum! Miami is really wonderful, and close enough to Ft. Lauderdale and Key West you can venture to see more of South Florida.

Miami is a fantastic city. Once you drive from Miami across 395 towards South Beach on a sunny day, you will realize that no other place on the planet has a more spectacular view. Stunning. Yes, you need to know some Spanish to live there, get over it. The people are nice and good looking, the food is even better - Cuban/Dominican/Puerto Rican food plus the other Latin American food like Peruvian, Argentinian & Brazilian are superb. The weather is the best in the US. Hurricanes are not that bad as people think, but you need to be prepared for sure. Traffic is pretty bad, but that is to be expected in any big city. Don't worry about the crime, because you will not be living in the hood anyway. Move to Brickell, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, South Beach, Aventura, Bal Harbour, Sunny Isles or other upscale places and you will only read about crime like the rest of the people do. Most other big cities are a lot worse than Miami for crime. Find a friend with a boat and cruise out to Bimini, the sandbars or down the keys for weekend partying and you will enjoy Miami to its fullest. For me, there's no other big city that's even close to Miami. All the cities up north you freeze your ass off for half the year. California is nice, but the water is so cold in the pacific that you will never even go swimming there. The beaches in California are disgusting compared to Miami. If you don't like partying, are homophobic, or don't like people speaking Spanish, then Miami is definitely not for you. But if you love to have a good time and enjoy life, there's no better place to be.

Miami is the cultural and economic capital of the Caribbean. Wouldn't want to live there though.

Weirdsville, USA. It's hard driving there because a bunch of stray goats are herded all over the streets. My God, it's the weirdest city in the USA.

Not a bad place to visit, but cant help but feel there's something unusual about it. Big Latin influence makes knowing Spanish a plus. A lot of New York transpants plus a lot of big city problems mixed in an exotic setting. Hurricane warnings are no fun either. Miami Beach is da bomb though and if you like to party and enjoy a party/all night nightlife you'll like it a lot. Warm weather is a plus. A lot of European tourists visit. Good place to go to prior to taking a cruise.
