st louis' time has past it by. but, unlike other older midwestern cities , st louis , to my knowledge , has not really reinvented or reinvigorated itself. has a surprisingly high crime rate and level of air pollution. plus it has cold winters AND hot summers, the worst combination.

Great place to go if you're not interested in art, creative music, a downtown that has any signs of life at night or people who have any travel sense. Most have never been anywhere other than Florida and Lake of the Ozarks, therefore the only other places that exist (and only on TV) are wherever the local team is playing a game. Looking for women? Come during deer season, when half the men leave town for the big kill and the women... hell, who knows what they do other than host candle and tupperware parties.

I just spent two days in St Lou for the first time this past weekend. I got to catch the Jets game at the Edward Jones Dome which was an awesome experience (other than my Jets tanking it). The people were all very polite, the food was great and the city was by and large clean. There were numerous sports bars and nice restaurants and the prices were very cheap. The only disappointment was the riverboat gambling- what a dump! The President Casino was dirty, smokey- filled with slackjaws and rent betters hoping to make back beer money.

Briefly stopped in St. Louis. Biggest impression was of the Arch. It is amazing. I swear I had the theme music to 2001 A Space Oddesey in my head when I approached the Arch. The Arch made me proud to be an American. Only a country as great as ours could conceive and build a thing like it. Busch stadium is downtown, not far from the Arch. Cool thing to do at the Arch is lay on the grass on a nice day in the shadow of the Arch and look up in the sky. Is this heaven?

I was just in St. Louis for a cross-country meet and had an ok time touring the city. The only great thing I visited was the gateway arches.

I lived in St. Louis for 21 years. It's definatly not the best city in the nation. Horrible drivers, oppressive police departments and a lack of vision by the city are some of the bad things of this city. If you like free things this is the city to VISIT. The Zoo, which is one of the best in the nation, is absolutly free. The Art museum and the Botanical Gardens are other great things in the city. St. Louis has a amazing amount of parks, and some of them are really beautiful. Tower Grove and Forest Park are huge. Francis Park is a pretty park with endless hills. If you like food St. Louis is amazing, home of Imo's and many other St. Louis style pizza places. The Hill has a amazing amount of great Italian Resturants. South Grand and the Loop also give you many different choices in wonderful food. Ted Drews (home of frozen custard) is a land mark in St. Louis. The Arch however is overrated, nothing more then a big bent peice a metal with small windows at the top. In fact Downtown St. Louis is almost entirly dead. Something else is overrated about St. Louis, the friendliness. Sure people don't stare you down on the street, but they normally try to avoid eye contact. So St. Louis is OK, a hell of a lot better than Nashville.
