It's a real tough major because you need Latin to really do the blood-and-guts research at the doctorate level. . .

Only for the Spiritually inclined. By that I mean it is for people who wish to enter the Ministry.

It can't hurt anyone to know what others believe and think, if everyone knew a little more about other religions maybe we'd have a better understanding of how and why they behave the way they do.

 | Poison Tongue (0) 03/18/2004 | I think it's a great idea to have a religion major, whether it's in your own religion or a different one. To major in a religion is to fully understand the meaning of the teachings of that religion. Anyone who has a maojor in more than one of the major world religions or a major in a religion different than their own is more likely to be more tolerant of others and their religion because they know more than conventional stereotypes. The only down side is that having a religion major is only in high demand when you want to teach at a religous school or become a higher-up in that religion.

 | twinmom101 (33) 10/08/2003 | I took a few ancient religion classes, mostly about ancient Israel and the Jews. It's a facsinating field, but jobs are scarce. This can be a good stepping stone for divinity school but for the average person, it's not very lucrative.
