If there is one sports anchor I could go the rest of my life without seeing or hearing again it's Chris Berman. This guy is so full of himself and he's an idiot. His claim to fame is nicknaming baseball players which was cute for about a minute. Now he does those stupid sound effects when doing football highlites. How old is this putz? I'd like to punch him in the face and scream "Woop"!

Say what you want about Berman. I think he is funny and entertaining. Least compared to the other ESPN anchors. Love his knick-names.....Albert "Winnie The Pujols" lol

His rude comments about the sexual proclivities of world-freakin'-class soccer players forever iced this gasbag a-hole in my book. A 6'6" waste of talent, except when it's coming out of his frontal rectum: his mouth. Chris Vermin Berman.

Clearly the best of all time. Berman is the "franchise player" of ESPN!

Do you mean Chris "vermin" Berman? I'm sure His enthusiasim is laudable, but his puns and name jokes insult the players and offend the fans.

This guy is way past his prime. The salami, uh, swami, is getting old. He needs to take his wide load to L.A. Fitness Club and Hair Club For Men.

I give him 5 stars for entertainment value. He's funny, not controversial, does his job well.

Ditto, Berman needs to go, and take Stewie, Linda, Mike Hall, Vitale, Corso, Gammons, Steven A(hole) Smith, Around the Horn jerks, John Clayton, and the bevy of ESPN stars I forgot to mention with him.

For years I liked this guy, but now I can't stand him. I'm tired of the phrases, sound effects, the nicknames, which some are good but some are awful, and all the Rock N' Roll references. ESPN loves him, and he should just do football, but they bring him out for all these important events. Like the Stanley Cup Finals, he doesn't do hockey all year, yet he's there doing highlights with Barry Melrose. He's OK on Baseball Tonight, but not very good broadcasting. But worst of all, the reason why he deserves 1 star is that he kisses ass as much as anyone. I heard him here on an NYC sports radio station, he was a guest shortly after the steroids scandal, and he said that he honestly believed Barry Bonds about not knowing that he took steroids. I know Berman is a Giants fan and wants to believe that, but come on, he can't seriously believe that.

Although his schtick has gotten a bit tiresome and he seems to get more corpulent with each broadcast, he is my choice as the most important SportsCenter anchor in their history. I loved his Bermanisms (e.g. Jim Two Silhouettes in DeShaies), the Swami, and his trademark catchphrases (back...back...back, He...could...go...alllll...the...way). Chris introduced me to the term Mendoza Line, which greatly influenced 5 years of my life ( www.mendozasheroes.com )

Boomer, still the most entertaining anchor and he is smart too. RUMBLIN BUMBLIN STUMBLIN. Gotta love it if you're a football fan.

Chris Berman is THE personality that put ESPN on the map. He very much personifies the network, which is quite a broad statement, but many anchors that followed Berman at ESPN molded themselves after him. The nicknames he gives to players, especially baseball players, are infamous. The most entertaining broadcaster in the business.

Please, get a couple of new catch phrases
pabob 01/07/2004
Unquestionably the best of all-time on ESPN. He was the first personality to become wide known and was a big reason why Sportscenter became so enjoyable to watch in the first place with his nicknames for so many players.
