Hillary Clinton is mostly considered a feminist because she comes across as a lesbian and carries herself as (and I can tell you from experience, approximately a third of female lawyers do ... although less so as they get older) a person attempting to compensate for not having a penis by being overly forceful and aggressive. She is not a feminist nor has she lead the public life of an empowered female free of the constraints of "male domination". The reality is that she's about a hop, skip and jump away from being a battered woman. And anyone who believes she is a shining example of an equal partner or co-empowered mate is deluding himself. Ms. Clinton has allowed herself to be internationally humiliated by a disrespectful, adulterous womanizer on repeated occasions. Not only that, but each time she willingly takes him back and allows him to serve up another dose of the same conduct. She has very publicly sacrificed her dignity again and again in support of the best interests of the man she married. Aside from being the victim of repeated physical abuse, there is not much more stereotypical female subservience that the senator from New York could engage in. Assuming feminism is a bad thing (a statement with which I don't necessarily agree), this is no reason to vote against her. Hillary Clinton is about as much of a substantive feminist as George Bush is a fiscal conservative.

I wish she was a feminist. It'd be a good reason to vote for her.

The problem is that she lets this aspect of her make dumb descisions and goes with the feminist auto vote alot.

Oh, my goodness, now this is really sinful, this business of wanting equal pay and equal rights for women. Women should only speak when spoken to and should do what their hubbies tell them. The nerve! UPDATE: Eschew is really right about this. As a former Arkansan, I can attest that Hillary Clinton rode on her husband's coattails. I'm not saying she still would not have been successful, but being married to the governor certainly did not hurt at all.

Wait, I usually like feninists. I don't think she's a real feminist, by definition, just political pals with their liberal lobby. UPDATE: I don't consider Hillary a feminist, politically. Feminism stands for the equal recognition for the individual accomplishments of a woman. Hillary got her job at Rose Law Firm because her husband was governor. She got involved in some screechy left-wing causes while First Lady of Arkansas, won big in some cattle futures speculation (on her first try, having done zero research, just lucky) and was assigned to the health care takeover committee by (guess who?) her president/husband. Until she ran for Senator, she did not accomplish anything on her own. That is not a feminist.

Well, to be fair; wouldn't you expect ANY woman who would potentially run for this office to consider herself a feminist on some level? I mean, it wouldn't be the kind of job that would attract your basic June Cleaver type, now would it? I can't hold something that would be a given for anyone against her. (The one thing - how frustrating!)
