 | ILikePie (53) 07/16/2008 | They used to be one of my favourite bands... but I got very bored with them very quickly. They were necessary, and they had some good songs, but they were ultimately a bit dull. It all comes back after a few beers though...

 | SZinHonshu (44) 07/27/2005 | The best hard rock band in the last 35 years. Unmistakable sound and dynamite live act.

 | VirileVagabond (36) 02/12/2005 | The early success of AC/DC was largely due to a backlash against the prog-rock and arena rock (not to mention disco) sounds of the day, namely very little (if any) keyboards, just simple (and loud) guitar and banging percussion. Proof yet again that sometimes genius is in simplicity. Moreover, the band was largely responsible for bringing metal/hard rock to pop music radio and a much larger audience. While AC/DC had several full-length efforts from 1976 to 1978, the tracks from which are better left sampled via a compilation (eg T.N.T. and Whole Lotta Rosie), the band hit their stride with Highway To Hell (1979) and Back In Black (1980) which contained their best singles (eg the title tracks, Girls Got Rhythm, Hells Bells, and You Shook Me All Night Long), garnered crossover success, and resulted in the reissue stateside of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap in 1981. While the band was able to maintain its high standard of excellence after the death of lead singer Bon Scott (who died shortly after the release of Highway) for Back In Black (Scott was replaced by Brian Johnson), the band was not able to maintain that level of material. The fall off (along with the rise of new wave) resulted in AC/DC fading from most musical radars. This uneven catalog leaves the fan base searching for one solid compilation, supplemented with the full-length Back And Black (and if aggressive Highway and Dirty Deeds). Unfortunately, the band has only released expensive box sets that offer more than the casual fan would want (though perhaps there are some imports available). When all is said and done, AC/DC was (or is) a seminal hard rock band.

 | fezzador (3) 01/29/2005 | Quintessential hard rock band of the late 70s and early 80s. Angus Young is one of the most underappreciated rock guitarists of his day. Also a very underrated live band. Tours are rare nowadays but well worth it.

 | Djahuti (56) 12/28/2004 | Lots of fun,but their songs are too similar to listen to a whole album.

 | the icon of sin (0) 12/13/2004 | Now i'm no Beatles, Stones or Who fan in perspective, but i reckon they should all be above AC/DC, who have 1 fairly tanented member in Young, but really THATS IT. Some catchy songs, but not particularly innovative, complex or interesting in most parts.
