When he's doing Shakespeare, he's pretty solid. Otherwise he has a tendency to chew the scenary a little.

I like him for making Shakespeare uber-trendy in the mid-to-late 90's but he is a rather overrated actor who hams up every scene. . .

Absolute genius. Comparable to the great Orson Welles but he seems more practical than Welles and so can accomplish more for the theatre and films,
