As a prior comment noted, the Energizer Bunny spots started as a response to the ads running by Duracell back in the day. This campaign seems to have slowed recently; however, there's no denying its success. These commercials served as a direct answer to its biggest competitor (Duracell essentially monopolized the quality battery market at the time), has lasted longer than anyone at Energizer could have hoped, and the bunny has become part of the pop culture. I recall that about half-way through the campaign, the bunny started to pop up at the tail-end of spots that didn't look like battery ads or commercials at all, and these were very effective and served to add some longevity to the concept. Even though I'm tired of this campaign, one is hard pressed to rate it less than four stars.

It was cute when it first came out and for decades now that little bunny has been beating his drum just going and going and going........ and for decades I've wondered what would happen if the batteries were installed backwards................

Make that TWENTY+ years. Remember the original reason for this campaign? The Duracell toy bunny who was outlasted the others in a big group. (Poor Duracell; every1's long forgotten their ads.) Eveready showed theirs not only lasting but running circles around it and so on. Cute for a while - stopped being interesting in '85. I cannot believe this is still going. Yaawwn!

Another ad which features a persistent rabbit. He just beats that little ol' drum of his and keeps going, and going, and going.....

Achieved everything the Madison Avenue suits wanted it too. Immediate brand recognition, and embedded in our American Culture and Psyche.
