Jerry Lewis? No! The problem with him, or one of them, is that he thinks that his telethon is about him. So many good people give their hard earned money to find a cure for this horrible disease. People don't really watch the telethon for the high-quality entertainment or for their annual Jerry Lewis humor fix. He is tolerated because of the cause. As for his movies, after Martin and Lewis broke up, his work was sad. The young Jerry was tolerable because of his naive, silly antics. He got older and it wasn't funny anymore. Sort of like the Little Rascals. How many of them lasted in the business? Just Bobby Blake and he sure isn't funny. So we were supposed to believe that JL was a jet-set swinger with scores of beautiful women chasing him? The thought is funny in the wrong way. The films were bogus and his heavy-handed production turned even the French critics away. What about his TV show? He spent his time telling his guests that he was much more talented than they were. That got old fast. The adulation that he received as a young man and thought that he would get forever turned him into the unpleasant character that he became.Although I'm sure the painkillers didn't help.

Kudos for his MDA telethon. His movies are about two stars with a four for the Nutty Professor.

He's a seriously no-talented sanctimonious waste of space. Yeah, I know he raises a lot of money for charity.... but............ read the first sentence again.

A silly man, but I grudgingly must agree with IJR about Jerry's seriousness in regards to MDA. (I hate it when he's right!)

He was at his best when paired with Dean Martin, on his own he wasn't quite as funny, and maybe a kittle over the top, but still good. His humaitarian work overrides everything else.

He was committing time to charity before it was the cool thing for celebrities to do. In fact, you caould draw a line between Lewis and Danny Thomas as the people who started celebrity involvement in charitable causes. Even now as his own health is fading, Lewis continues to put a lot of effort into the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

All stars fade, but I credit Jerry Lewis for his huge efforts in combating Muscular Dystrophy. This is his legacy, and he deserves all the accolades he receives in this area.

The best in the game of physical comedy in his day. He needs credit for that. I think what people seem to hang on to is what happens to these x-stars when they grow old. Looking at Jerry get swollen and obese from what is obviously just poor self maintenance can make people think very negative. This has definitely happened to him.

other than his devotion to helping mda i dont think he was supposed to be taken serious. he was funny for his time and he deserves a little respect for his successes. he made films that the whole family could watch and enjoy

I will at least give him three stars for his devotion to MDA that is great of him. that would be the only thing i take him serious for.
