This is my favorite song by Sir Elton Fudge. Dance clubs used to play this and follow it up with Bay City Roller's "Saturday Night."

Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting is Elton John's British version of an American rock 'n roll song, which is what lyricist Bernie Taupin apparently was shooting for as well. In fact, one can easily hear this track coming from the Who (and they, though British themselves, were actually the first band of note to cover the song). Clearly one of the highlights of the full-length Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973), the single proved how musically diverse Elton could be. Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting charted in the U.S. for 9 weeks in 1973 (peaking at #12), and has been covered by Nickelback, WASP, and the aforementioned Who.
