Elton John and Bernie Taupin's tribute to John Lennon after his death, Empty Garden (Hey, Hey Johnny) is one of their weaker efforts in my opinion. The song simply lacks the emotion and appeal of Candle In The Wind which was conceived along similar lines, and this is evidenced by the complete lack of covers. Empty Garden (Hey, Hey Johnny) charted in the U.S. for 10 weeks in 1982, peaking at #13.

I had a friend in high school who thought this song was IT. It's pretty good in my book, but certainly not a classic. It's really kind of insipid until it reaches the end, but it does finally build to an okay ending.
