I don't know how acurate or historic this show was but as a kid I enjoyed it quite a lot. Hugh O'Brian was very good in the role of Wyatt Earp.

This was more than a t.v. oater, it was a western soaper. It developed a story as it went along. It was semi-historical and Hugh O'Brian who played Wyatt moved from town to town, finally winding up in Tombstone to fight the OK Corral gunfight that ended the series.

The most unique of all the TV Westerns - part classic BW movie, part documentary, ppart history: what the legend of the American West was truly about. The a-capella chorus that accompanied the narritive and action - instead of the usual 'tv musical score' - gave the show an eerie authenticity of time and place. When combined with the wide spaces and small secluded western towns , gave you a greater sense of what the Old WEst was like than any Western developed for television, and most films besides. Hugh O'Brien's performance was first rate, and his portrayal of Earp set the standard for how other actors portrayed the Man of the West. I was told that TV Land is showcasing the show on Saturday and Sunday afternoons @ 3:00 and 3:30 pm Eastern time. If the ratings are good, they will air all 238 episodes in sequence. Itself agreat history in the lives and legends of not only Earp, but of the many people, places, and evets that make up the story of the American West. I have seen eight of the shows - they are in superp condition visually and aurally. I cannot recommend them enough

I thought this was a great show when I was young..later I read that it was really rough..O'Brien said that sometimes the fights got to be all too real!

Wyatt Earp Was A Good Watching Western For its Time! It Was One of The First of Many TV Westerns...

Wyatt Earp, Wyatt Earp, brave courageous and bold. Long may his fame and long may his glory and long may his story be told. A pretty good western for back then. The backgound sound effects (musical humming) was so strange that it was worth wathcing just for that.
