The hippies of the late sixties and early seventies were sort of cool in an offbeat way. These twenty-first century wannabes are a waste of skin. The ones that aren't doing the spare change act while swigging a latte from a Starbucks commuter cup, are joining some wierdo cult, home schooling their children into imbecility or espousing a totalitarian lifestyle. Those that claim to be political activists are usually poverty pimps claiming an affinity for a social problem they do not come within a football field of understanding.

Yuck, please shave, get a haircut, and take a bath. That line runs through my head every time I see one. I really can't stand seeing white guys with dreadlocks... they need to be slapped.

Amusing in their day, I suppose. Unfortunately, there's still a few wannabes lurking around.

i don't like them. i don't mind the hippie ideal of the 1960's, but all the so-called modern hippie seems to be into are drugs and pretending. there's no activism. more are punks from rich families. of course the bulk of 1960's radicals were too. i dont want to hear from these morons, unless they've had to work for a living.

I despise hippies and, whenever I can, I tell them to get a haircut.

Modern hippies suck.

I give them four stars for they way they were in the sixties, and about half-a-star for the 2003 version. The current hippie lifestyle is usually a form of fundamentalism: find me a commune, I'll find you a cult leader, and a totalitarian society with a Happy Face.
