I tried this a few years back and decided that it just wasn't for me. Actually, my hair decided for me by being too thick and heavy for the blasted things to deal with. Still, it was kind of a cute artzy fartzy thing to do for a change of pace for those who have the right kind of hair.

Even though my hair is long, I must not have the manual dexterity to make these things work. I always thought that they looked a bit dangerous!

I do this on occasion (usually with pencils, sometimes with those hairsticks that you're supposed to use)--it's a convenient way to put up your hair.
