That would be true. But I don't think a native of the land would go and tell English settlers. This to me sounds like something which is meant to praise America. It is so good that it should be kept a secret.

Wilde's bon mot's were always edgey. As he stood in the rain waiting to be taken to jail, he said If this is how Queen Victoria treats her prisoners, she doesn't deserve to have any. and his dying words were Either this wallpaper goes, or I do.

One alternative would be to have a Native American Day where we reflect on how the Indian men were slaughtered and the women and children were thrown from their home. Nah, better stick with Columbus Day.
