Skizero 03/15/2005
my bar of choice. i'll go on record as saying that the place is not only my favorite bar in NYC but my favorite bar EVER. the joint is located on St. Mark's place. you gotta walk down steps to get to it. inside it is like a hobbit's hovel, all wooden and acrid smelling. the tables are full of grooved-in graffiti. bar prices aren't bad either. you can get a pint of domestic for $3, Guiness for under $5. plus they have popcorn, air-popped, for $1 a basket. not only this but the jukebox is to die for. filled w/old punk, rock, sinatra, country and jazz, i've pumped plenty of money in the thing. the clientele isn't typical East Village either (ie--no hipsters) lots of local neighborhood folks and student. plus me. you ever want to find Skizero in NYC, check the root. but only until March 31st, and then i'm gone.
