This Pepto bismol cuteness is so irritating that its used as the ultimate punishment in Thailand. Police officers caught littering, parking in a prohibited area, or arriving late- will be forced to wear the pink armband of shame. 

I'll grant that Kamylienne's example is pretty weird. However, I think I can top it. I saw one of those oddball news reports about how in Japan (for the price of only $20,000 USD) you can have these two characters dressed up as Hello Kitty and her boyfriend stand up for you at your wedding.. as the maid of honor and the best man. You get a gigantic Hello Kitty cake and all the other paraphernalia as well. Apparently the demand is so great that the Hello Kitty people can't keep up with the requests. If that isn't both sad and bizarre then I don't know what is.

This stuff never bothered me. Maybe because I'm a female and I thought it was cute.

What is the point of Hello Kitty? What does it do. It just a kitty that just sits there and it's not that cute.

This stuff has been around awhile so I don't really see it as a fad. It's a cute little collection for little girls and I see no harm in it at all.

Alright, I admit it . . . I like Hello Kitty. It's too painfully cute. But, yeah, I wouldn't buy the stuff, it's just too bizarre. They've got everything from Hello Kitty Toilet Paper to Hello Kitty Toasters, and the most frightening thing I ever saw was a Hello Kitty massage wand (I swear it, look on EBay, I thought it was a joke, too! It's not!). Kind of freaky, if you ask me.
