Really, hated mostly by a strange mix of both the Christian and Islamic right, so maybe Iran and conservative Christians do have something in common besides the fact the both hate liberty.

Had to knock him down, some people here had him being worse than hitler and stalin and that is plain silly. Can't be that bad. The United States was still buying $4,000,000,000 a year in oil from him up to the week of the invasion. Rumsfeld Shook his hand 20 years ago. We knew he was a murderer 30 years ago. Bob Dole Shook his hand a month before he invade kuwait and said what a good guy he was. Heroin must not be that bad either. Bush did not destroy the poppy fields in Afghanistan. Said we'd get it before it hit the streets. Sure. Now Bin Laden is using the profits for whatever he does. Guess he isn't that bad either since Bush was told they would use the money from the 3 billion dollar a year Heroin business to fund terrorist yet did nothing. TALIBAN got 40 million a year from the US and checks were still going out until sept. 2001. Now after they told all westerners to get out and blew up those two giant buddhas you'd think someone would have gotten the message and stop dealing with thugs. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/1734419.stm

I believe the world is much safer without an evil dictator such as Saddam Hussein in power. Killed thousands of his own people, tortured many also.

Saddam Hussain was put in power by the CIA and taken out by the CIA, same with Osama. Saddam said Bush was puppet of Zionism, can anyone deny that? Well, can ya!?

Super you spelled it wrong. :-P A ruthless dictator, but not nearly as hated as some think. How exactly can you compare him to Hitler? Granted, Hussein has killed thousands of people. But if I remember right we never did anything about that...

It wasn't genius that made Hitler so dangerous, it was his wanton disregard for human life and brutal ability to wield power. How many times do we need to hear the old song, if we'd have stopped Hitler in the late 30's, thousands, maybe millions of lives could have been saved? He was a despot who was the leader of a sovereign nation, it's what made him so powerful and so dangerous. He was then, what Saddam was until March, 2003. He sought world domination, why do you think he invaded Kuwait? The US did the right thing in toppling Saddam, and if a precedent is set, the world can truly become a safer place. If we back off now (also known as elect Kerry) terrorists regain the upper hand they had when Clinton was the US president, and they know it. The whole world is watching this election. Try not to forget how despicable this man was when he was in power. It's amazing the attention span of the American people. He gets a 4.

(It is Saddam Hussein, with an ei, not an ai in Hussein.) Anyway, he may have killed many people, but he is not the most hated person ever. He really has not affected the lives of most people. (Whereas Hitler and the Axis affected practically the whole world.)

I'm no so impressed with Saddam. The truth is he took power by being a brute. He lacks the intelligence or charisma of a Hitler, or even a Bin Laden. Yes, being a brutal dictator may be enough for a high ranking, but he falls more into the pathetic, then the diabolical.
