 | elfomatic (0) 05/26/2007 | The newer stores are much better than the older ones -- which kind of get neglected. If you visit the new stores you can see that the company has really gotten a handle on layout and atmosphere recently. They could stand to do a little more remodeling in the older stores though. Dirt and clutter are definitely themes -- especially in locations that are way to small for the volume of business they are forced to handle.

 | BootDeepintheSouth (0) 02/08/2007 | Visited various stores in Tx., La., and Ark. BAM is the Walmart of the bookstore chains-- not in a good way. The stores I visited were almost identical: dirty, cluttered, and unorganized. Don't open the bathroom door! Just hold it and go to the service station down the street. It is usually short of staff. I went to a La. location's service desk and interrupted 2 employee's fun of singing and making fake customer pages over the store intercom. I asked about ordering a book, and both stared at me then at each other, snickered, and finally made a lame excuse about the computer being down (B.S.). The manager was of no help-- she was working the only open register, and babbling insincere apologies to a couple who were complaining about the lack of service and inappropriate remarks over the intercom. BAM is great for killing some time *be sure to use the bathroom Beforehand*, but I buy books elsewhere.

 | Sigma252 (0) 12/28/2004 | Books A Million, has a wide selection of books for all ranging from politics to religion to classics to science to philosophy , coffee, newspapers etc. Unfortunately books are cluttered , the science section is not divided specifically like at barnes and Noble. But its an alternative to my local library thats for sure!

 | frankwright (0) 04/08/2004 | Very cluttered store. I found it very difficult to find what I wanted. I have been to about 8 of their stores as I travel for my work and it seems to be the same for them all. Dirty, cluttered, bad customer service. It's just so much easier at a place like Borders or B&N.

 | tvtator (6) 11/28/2003 | The book selection is great, but the set up is lousy. I have a hard time finding a particular book or a particular section. The customer service is fair as I've had trouble finding someone to help, but when I do they have been helpful.

 | artbuf (0) 06/28/2001 | These guys are actually a national chain, and not just an internet store. They have always had a good selection, that rivals B&N and Borders.
