What a snippy, bitchy queen. But pretty funny.

Spoken like a true queen

This is incorrectly quoted. The true quote is: My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go. Note: the wallpaper outlived Wilde 100 years to the day.

what a great wit. he was good at coming up with those kind of quotes. good at funny insulting lines as well. how many people say something funny just before they die.? must have been awful ugly wallpaper.
Enkidu 03/25/2007
I hear the wallpaper is still there. One of the funniest people ever to live, and to die. And hey, I made this list--how come I can't edit it any more? changes at RIA I guess...

Looks like the wallpaper made it.

I think these are the wittiest final words of all time. Wilde was the master of the pithy bon mot in his time. Not a great writer, but a fine mind and a savage tongue.

Certainly much better spoken than my Uncle Cletus's last words: Hey, everybody! Watch me do this!

Yes!

My personal favorite last words. I recently saw this referred to in the context of . . . since Oscar Wilde lost his duel with the wallpaper. Priceless.

Funny to his last breath.Oscar was,indeed, Wild(e) !

I take it the wallpaper didn't go anywhere. . .

I love Oscar Wilde. His wit is dryer than a cactus and twice as painful to be on the wrong end of.

Even though I really don't care for the writings or anything by Oscar Wilde, I think I have even said this once or twice...lol

Poor guy ended up going instead.
