He goes from silent days to the 1960's. Other raters mentioned Casablanca so I won't repeat, but he has a great body of work.

One of the two most underrated directors ever. His control over all aspects of his films made nearly all of them good, and a few (Casablanca, Mildred Pierce, Adventures of Robin Hood, and The Sea Wolf) are great
