These speakers of an Indo -European tongue were centered in what's now Turkey, had great war chariots , did some impressive metal work and similar arts, and for some time rivalled Egypt as the prime force in the ancient Middle East. They fought a great battle in which both sides claimed victory, though most scholars think it must have been a draw. They fell prey to others eventually, as all empires have, essentially vanishing around, I believe 1200 B.C.
