Great artwork particularly metalwork, and some interesting beliefs, though they were as warlike as irishgit says. I always found much of their mythology kinda boring and/ or inscrutable in terms of the deities and some of the legends though, and they don't get a 5- for eventually producing insidious people like myself, I'm half Irish and have some Scottish too.

 | Faldara (6) 05/14/2004 | The Celtic tribes had a more advanced civilization than many think. The Druids, who are generally thought to be 'priests' or 'magicians' were much more. They were also the doctors, lawyers, mediators and judges. They were accountable to a council of other druids known as the Pheryllt. While it is true that the ancient Celts did not have much of a written language, things were passed on to next generations by means of stories, songs and poetry. Were we able to view their lives with exactitude, I think we'd find them not so different from ours - technology aside!
