05/31/2008 | The question is not whether Transformers was great--it WAS great, undeniably so. The question is which was superior: Transformers or G.I. Joe. (We all know that Go-Bots are not a part of this discussion...Go-Bots suck! Except for Leader-1...he was pretty cool.)

04/07/2007 | Without further adieu, there is by far no other transforming vehicle type of cartoon show in the past that can surpass the modernization and contemporalizing effect of the amazing Transformers, in the industry and for the future of robots that transform.
It set the bar and let people imagine the next generations of transforming characters for serieses to come.

03/29/2006 | By far the absolute BEST CARTOON! Not many can top those robots in disguise. The movie was also on point too. As for the new stuff out now...pure garbage! They should not try to remake a show that doesn't need one. Just put the old one back on...I'm rollin out!

07/29/2005 | This was a great show! Even though I'd liked more of the despeacons (megatron,soundwave) than the autobots (bumblebee-ugh). By the the way to the previous poster about soundwave, it was 2 cassett tapes not disks that pop out of him. One was a bird (hawk/falcon/eagle?) and the other was a dog.

07/28/2004 | One of the top cartoon shows when I was a kid in the mid 1980's. Optimus, Blaster and Bumble Bee were the best. Starscream was yuck! I couldn't watch the new Transformers, it doesn't seem the same.

10/16/2003 | Rating the classic, pre-movie Transformers show, they get a 4. I have never been able to figure out why they found it necessary to change the format into a future setting for the movie. I mean, we have the cool idea of having current vehicles on our roads today transforming into robots. Very cool. they changed it so that there were "futuristic" cars which could already hover and fly changing into robots. It took away the coolness because it became just another sci-fi cartoon show. It didn't help matters to kill Optimus Prime in that movie either; kids don't want to see high drama involving cartoon heroes dying. That was way too bleak for a show of this nature. Basically I'm saying that all Transformers shows are weak compared to the quality of the original from the mid-late 80s.

10/15/2003 | Show was great until after the movie came out in 1987. The animation looked cheaper and it got too futiristic for my tastes. I mean, having giant transforming robots in modern times wasn't innovative enough? The toys started being made with more plastic and rubber around this time as well. That guy doing Optimus Prime's voice must've been channeling John Wayne, he sounded just like him!

03/24/2003 | Yeah, it was cheesy, but when you're about five years old, it's fun! I watched the first season on DVD not too long ago, it was so cheesy it was entertaining. But, seriously, the concept of the machines tranforming into robots was pretty neat, and made for some awesome toys! (To be honest, I miss the toys a lot more than I miss the show, it sure was a lot more interesting than playing with Barbies).

10/26/2002 | The original Transformers was great. Classic cartoon stuff, with the good Autobots and the evil Decepticons (who always had less than half the troops the Autobots did, no wonder they always lost). Classic stuff, that's sometimes a little cheesy. A legend in the cartoon (and toy) world.
