I wouldn't agree with this one because I certainly wouldn't want to buy something expensive that I didn't know how to use or could be dangerous to me if I misused. Besides, I wouldn't like to go around to other men telling them that I didn't know how to use my tools, they would laugh at me. I think it is more manly to know how to use the tools.

I understand the concept because I dont claim to be any kind of a handy man, but I never bought a power tool I did not know how to use. I may not be too efficiant with it, but I know what not to do with it at least. My tools are mainly musical instruments and the things needed to work on and maintain them, (small precision stuff)and I am very particular about who uses them and how.

But it does come in handy if you do know how to use it.

yeah being a fellow welder of forgotten hero, I need to know my tools, how to use them, and when i do being able to fix somthing gives you almost a orgasmic felling.

If the tool in question is mine then I'd have a need to know how it can be used. I don't like depending on someone to do something that I can accomplish by myself.

I usually figure out how to use it at the end of the day, so it doesn't really matter.

What's the big deal about stupid power tools? Come on, I would rather own the latest Mario game or Star Trek DVD set any day!
JonTheMan 12/07/2003
Nope, knowing how to use a power tool is pretty neccesary, I mean I wouldn't want to stick a drill into my ear because it seemed like an appropriate orifice at the time.

This really depends on what POWERTOOL you are referring too ! But if you are talking about an actual POWERTOOL that you can buy at SEARS, then most of the guys I know are very picky and particular about this. They don't want anyone using their tools unless they know what they are doing, and by God you best not break it ! So I don't agree with this one either...

Must be nice to buy tools without having the sales person talk to you like you're a damn 2-year old; Can your dad or your brother show you how to use this? No, I'm pretty sure I can figure it out, all I have to do is take it out of the box and shove it right up your . . .
