 | Limpin' Trenchfoot (18) 01/18/2007 | I dont understand how Eno - with his background in the pioneering days of Roxy Music and who then went on to produce Talking Heads during their period of greatness - got himself involved with this lot. As trad and bog standard a band it'd be hard to find. Back in the early - mid 80s bands like U2 were 10 a penny, although not much better. 'Pride' is a particularly annoying piece of anthemic and pretentious tosh. But, overall it's better than all their other earlier albums so just about scrapes a 3 rating

A beautiful enchanting masterpiece! This may even be better than Joshua Tree.

 | Wiggum (17) 07/18/2001 | Along with REM, U2 was the best band of the late 80s and early 90s. I remember being in junior high school (might have been 1985) when someone gave me a tape with "War" on one side and "Unforgettable Fire" on the other. I listened to that tape non-stop during an amazing train ride through the Canadian Rockies, and now whenever I hear a song from either CD it takes me right back to that trip. I'm sick of the song "Pride," but the other, lesser-known songs on "Unforgettable Fire" are classics. This is one of the three or four best U2 CDs, along with "War," "Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby."
