I think most of the psychic readings are crap.

I have once learned to do psychic reading myself with Tarrot cards, and many actually wanted me to do the readings for them although I really didn't believe in it all that much.

When I was quite young, my parents once hired a psychic to come to our house to do some readings. He told us something that happened to my grandma (who's passed away at that time) that none of us knew about, other than my grandfather. We later verified that information with grandpa and it was true.

No. The last time I called Miss Cleo I was trying to get in touch with the spirit of Chico Marx, but Miss Cleo told me that Franks and Ridge were swilling whiskey in the cellar. Sure enough, when I went down there, Franks and Ridge were on top of the washing machine and dryer with bottles of Seagram's and even worse, were playing The Eagles "One of These Nights" on an old Fisher Price record player...

A bunch of hooey and it's because of that that I didn't heed the message in a fortune cookie, just before I got married. It read:

"She's not going to hurt you...not like the others. Noooooooo....she's going to show you whole new levels of emotional pain."

The last psychic I met bet me twenty bucks that the Rockies would be all over the Red Sox in the 2007 World Series.

I think it's quite funny how the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are above this...
But it's always fun to try and take them seriously.

No. I went to "have my cards read" once. Way, way off ~ I think theses people look for some sign they are on the right track, and even if you give them no clues, they use generalities.

Sylvia Browne-"I'd get rid of your family curse if you write me a $700 check." You'll save a lot of money if you buy a Magic 8 ball or a box of fortune cookies

I try to be open-minded about most things in life (it's why, when it comes to religious issues, I classify myself as an agnostic rather than an atheist; atheists always impressed me as being as dogmatic and narrow in their beliefs as any traditional Judeo-Christian-Muslim-Hindu-etc. and I prefer the "humility" of Hamlet, who said, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."). Still, whether one is Robert Tilton or Oral Roberts or a Gypsy carny act on the boardwalk, it's easy enough for practiced grifters to play on the credulous nature of those desperate for "answers" to life's problems. There are a lot of these "psychic readers" in NJ, and I believe a large proportion of them actually are Gypsies. I suppose most of them are harmless enough (I'm certainly not about to spend my hard-earned money to find out), but there are genuine crooks plying their trade out there as well. There used to be a white house on Rt. 46 in Fairfield, NJ, that advertised "Readings, Tarot Cards, Hocus-Pocus, etc." (or words to that effect) and a local TV-news station did an "undercover" expose on the middle-aged woman running it. As I remember it, an older black reporter pretended to be an aged, rather simple-minded woman with a myriad of problems in her personal life. The Reader "discerned" that a curse had been put upon the woman and said curse could only be removed by a payment of thousands of dollars (naturally) to the Reader. When the Reader showed up at the bank the next day to meet the elderly woman for her loot, she was met instead by the news team, who tried to question her about the "curse". I don't know what ultimately resulted from all that drama, but I do know that that house continued to advertise its nefarious business for years afterward. Thankfully, in this particular instance, it was only a reporter who "suffered" in the cause of journalism, but I'm sure countless numbers of sad ignoramuses do get swindled out of their life savings by human parasites and sharks. Even where I work, a relatively well-educated woman paid $300 to see this guy Edwards (I think that's his name, but I really don't care to find out, quite frankly) commune with dead spirits. $300!!! Maybe I'm in the wrong business, or maybe I was just "blessed" with a conscience. Sad truth is there are a lot of people (and I use that word advisedly) active out there in the world today who aren't so "blessed".

I strongly believe there are people out there with a strong sixth sense and I think there are even everyday people who have a mild sixth sense eg premonitions or the "something told me...". Don't get me wrong there are some phoney's out there who are willing to rip people off, but like any group that's a minority that always spoil it for the majority. Heads are going to roll when I say this and I really don't mean to cause any offence, but even if you look at the Bible people now worship a Holy Spirit, Joseph had premonitions did he not? And even the three wise men were prophets. Years ago a kind lady read for me FOR FREE and what she told me came to pass 3 1/2 years later exactly as she said it would. I had another lady read for me two months ago. There are some things that she told me that there is NO WAY she could have possibly known about no matter how good her private detective was as none of the evidence she gave me was documented in any way and I told her nothing beforehand. A wild guess? I honestly think not.

As far as the gipsy ladies in tents at the carnival, offering to read your palm and all of that stupid crap. But I do believe that actually most people, have some sort of supernatural psychic moment. Mother's intuition, that could be called mildly psychic. I have had dae ja vooh (however you would spell that) many times. But I don't think that is what this is talking about......... Oh yeah, and as for that guy on TV who somehow got his own show where he talks to the dead. Yes, he absolutely does talk to the dead. But they DON'T talk back. lol.

So far, the majority of the so-called psychics have turned out to be frauds or or complete nutjobs. Can't say that I'm convinced.

They say things that work with everyone but sound magical, like for example, you will have luck today. They don't say good or bad.

Why is it that no one at the Psychic Friends Network predicted that they would be going out of business?

I think there are some rare people out there who have the ability to see visions of the future, have premonitions of good and bad, etc. But I don't think these people start up their own 1-900 numbers or TV shows. And haven't we learned by now that the psychics like Miss Cleo and others always tell you that your lover is bad for you, you need to lose weight and it's time for a career change?

Nope, there is nothing psychic about the readings. The 'medium' could probably make some very good guesses based on the person's persona and reactions to various comments and questions, but they do not have the power to see the future in any specific way. Oh well, no one is forcing to people to use the services of these charlatans, and I'm sure that they get their money's worth (comfort and a sense of purpose in life), but nobody is psychic, or telepathic, or has X-Men like powers. I don't believe so anyway.
