First off, I own a Hummer and refuse to accept that makes me any less of a human being (my car, my choice..lol). However I must say that this is actually very true, although sad. Reality tv explains it all by itself...

Sure didn't. Just take a look at the average comment on this web-site. Most of them are raving extravagantly about some pop-culture schlock, churned out by hacks and suits with their eye on the dollar sign.

Many Europeans, primarily continentalists cite this as a critique about Americans. It might be because we haven't had a long history here as a cohesive country to develop the traditions that underpin traditional connotations that define the concept of culture.
