He is certainly one of the more interesting characters in the New Testament. He wanted to free Jesus, evidently saw him as a harmless hippy, but he was too weak to go along with his gut instinct. A comment Pilate made during his exchange with Jesus has always fascinated me. "What is truth?" Pilate asked. I would ask him what he meant by that.

'Pilate' would be interesting for a short period of time where an interview is concerned. . .I'd love to hear his take on the hilarious and fraudulent end-result known as the New Testament. . .but Pilate's historical record is quite err...violent to say the least and I'll keep the interview short.

I would ask him whether he knew that his role in the whole trial and execution of Jesus Christ was part of God's plan for mankind? Could that have been the reason he killed himself? Just like Judas Iscariot did?

I wouldn't say that I'm a religious man, but I'd have to say that Pontius Pilot would be a fascinating and informative interview. There isn't any dispute over whether both Jesus and Pilot existed. Who was exerting pressure during the trial and what were these pressures? By tradition, Pilot eventually committed suicide, so what drove him to this extreme act? Such an interview would be priceless to both historical and religious scholars.
