I would hate to end up with an illness as schizophrenia. it must be torture to deal with this horrid mental illness. I cannot bring myself to make fun of them. It must be the worst to hear these voices and hallucinations. not to mention there is little sympathy for the mentally ill more like comtempt against them.

I get along with mine just fine for the most part...

Because schizophrenics can't get along with other people. Having an imaginary friend gives a schizo the feeling that they're in control of their environment; the people around them tells what they want to hear, as opposed to dealing with real people who sometimes talk back!

My best friend as I was growing up started to show the signs of schizophrenia when he turned 17 going on 18...he was as normal as any normal person could be. He was into sports, community service, and was very popular thruout all his school years. As soon as this horrible disease hit him, he totally went downhill and it almost destroyed his parents and the rest of his family. It didn't ruin my love for him, but I definately cannot sit and have a great conversation with him anymore. But during my experience with him, he never had a good time with the audio or visual hallucinations that he had....he was always paranoid and sometimes would cry from the fear that these imaginary people were threatening him and were going to hurt him, his family, me or anyone around him. It was always really scary. But I am sure all schizophrenics have different types of hallucinations. Even to this day I get so angry, sad, and confused that such a disease even exists. I am sure I am not the only one who would say that I would rather die from some physical ailment then ever go thru this living hell my friend is still going thru today. (unless of course he takes his medicine correctly, then it isn't near as bad, but he does tell me that the whole world is gray and zombielike)....but anyway, I just wanted to tell my experience with this disease...it sucks for real...and there is absolutely nothing funny about it...

Sure we get along. And I do too.

I am not a schizo. Yes, you are. Shut up you. Don't tell me to shut up. I'll show you. (Mad Hatter starts beating himself up)

It's okay to talk to yourself once in a while . . . it's when you have arguments and you lose when there's something really wrong. PS. If a schizophrenic person wants to commit suicide, is it now a hostage situation?

Because their imaginary friends are usually yelling at them and picking away at their confidence with little jibes. Or at least that's what this schizophrenic dude I knew told me. Although, I was at Applebee's once and the old guy at the next table was talking to someone across from him that only he could see, and he was chatting away and joking to this imaginary dude. When the waitress came he would cease his conversation, speak to the waitress, and then make little jokes about her with his invisible companion. So I guess that some of these people can have imaginary pals whose company they enjoy.

Because it's hard to communicate with someone who is so different from yourself.

When you are easily convinced to do insane things for so long, you eventually got to learn to stop being so gullible.
