I can't imagine a worse example of tokenism. I could just see all of us liberal white people turning this into a "Make a Black Friend Day." Some ethnically monolithic European countries are already doing something like this with their "Meet a Foreigner Days" (can't find the link right now). We white Americans already have www.rent-a-negro.com. Just use that service instead.

Don't we already have a black history month? I think black history month does well to focus on the accomplishments of African Americans. This idea really seems silly. Isn't every day an African American Day for African Americans.

Sure. Why not? I don't see it as reverse racism. We already have too many black children growing up thinking of themselves as being worth less than white children. Give them pride in themselves. White people don't need more pride, but minorities probably do. They need to see that they are just as unique and valuable as whites in our society. They need this, we white people don't.
