I'm a proud Asian-Pacific American, (and maybe I'm speaking for myself) but having an 'Asian and Pacific American Day' would not be a good idea because, like other Americans of diverse cultural backgrounds, we also contribute to this nation as a whole- and to be honored this way only separates us from everyone else whom contribute just as much to this country (and yet do not receive the credit they deserve). Individual days set aside to honor specific, culturally diverse Americans is not 'American'. If anything, everyday should be a celebration of what makes America great- not just one day. Diversity is only one of many things which makes America a great nation, and it ought to be embraced- but a specific holiday doesn't do anyone or any group justice.
