He'll find out after a few games trying to handle Iverson and Webber's egos he should never have come back to Philly.

One of the classiest gentleman in the game. I'm sorry that he's gone and I hope he gets another chance to coach another team. ... Apparently, those loser Blazers players' had attitude problems and played lackadaiscally under Cheeks. But you can't fire all 12 players.

** Sorry to see Mo go, but it was just a matter of time. The Blazers are a bunch of headcases who don't seem particularly interested in playing hard. I'd like to see any coach succeed with this group. **Original Comment** I'm not sure if this choice makes a lot of sense. I don't doubt Cheeks' knowledge of the game, and I don't doubt his competitiveness. What I do doubt is his experience. To throw a rookie coach between a team of overpaid, underachieving, egotistical players and a meddling team President seems like a recipe for disaster. Don't get me wrong, I think the list of coaches that could handle this team is pretty short - Riley, Jackson, maybe Larry Brown - I just don't think that ANY first year coach would have a prayer with this team. Hopefully Mo can prove me wrong.

I didnt even know the guy until watching him help the struggling National Anthem singer. WHAT A CLASS ACT. Not many people would of been brave enough to jump out there and help her yet he didnt even hesitate. Proud of you Maurice!

What a great guy. The Blazers don't deserve him. He was a rookie coach he took what he could get. He is still learning but what a class act. If he has any problem its that he is too nice. He will be a better coach somewhere else and when he is gone people will be amazed how he kept the whiny selfish blazers together in the first place. We focus on the negative but when he helped that girl with the national anthem that was probably one of my personal top 5 sports moments ever.

Maurice Cheeks is a very nice person. I am sure that his team will continue to respect and appreciate him. Please keep him happy, Philadelphia misses him.

A players' coach. He respects and supports his team even when fans and press are so very hostile and negative.
