Kick out every offender. If you don't you're making the problem worse. The gutless sports media is shockingly quiet about this. It's a problem that has only two ultimate solutions.

There should be no regulation. Let them juice all they like. There's a science to it and the skill of hand eye coordination isn't changed by steroid usage. Let the players assume the risk and quit all this crap about the record books. The game has changed numerous times: from hand woven dead balls to tightly woven live balls- that the Babe was smashing. 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 man rotations. Relievers to specialized closers. Large parks to small parks. Pain killers to supplements to performance enhancing drugs. No colored players to some to the best players in the world in one league. 8 teams to 30. This league has changed a zillion ways. Let the players assume the risk and let the fans enjoy the increased athleticism.

tboneya, shame on you, one year suspension for the first offense, how about a life time ban immediately, however, in baseball, they believe in giving illegal drug users second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, chances before doing anything, (see Strawberry and Howe)instead, they ban Pete Rose for betting on his own team to WIN!! Is it me or is that ass backwards?

I still have yet to see a side by side comparison of the NFL policy and MLB. You know it alls would be shocked to see how easy it is to decieve the NFL policy. As if any of you were ever to visit a NFL locker room, all I can say is that there is more juice in there than all of baseball. Ever notice players like David Boston? or the fact that the NFL now has 400 300lb players when in 1990 the # was closer to 40. 1/2 of the AFC champ Raiders were on THG and the NFL knew this and did nothing. Steroids needs to be snuffed out in all sports. Including the NFL.

Has anyone read the new steroid regulations yet? The first time you test positive you get treatment and counseling. What? Treatment and counseling? The last time I checked, steroids weren't an addictive drug but an illegal and unethical way of cheating. Should Sammy Sosa have gotten treatment and counseling for corking his bat? It's the same damn thing. In fact, under the current rules, you don't risk getting suspended for a year until the FIFTH time you test positive for illegal steroids. It's a disgrace. If I am a major league baseball player who is not yet using steroids, these regulations may induce me to get started. The player's association is stabbing the game in the back by negotiating these pathetic lip service to regulation. Just another sign that baseball is in dire straits.
