A tough call. . .I don't want to limit what a person can earn but the problem is a few players think they're too good for the rules, the team, or the league. . .that's the kind of corrosive greed that does the product no good. Money is a symptom but not the problem- if a player can get away with dogging it, faking injuries, or getting a slap on the wrist for drugs or steroids- why wouldn't be exhibit a measure of greed?

If the money is available why shouldn't the players want it?

I have had issues with greedy players since the 94 strike. Players who have off years still expect raises. I do not remember the year.. but Steve Avery lost twice as many games as he won, and went to arbitration and won.. he got a 100% raise. Because of the players union, players that have bad years get huge raises. Ted Williams once sent back a contract paying him the same salary as the year before because he had a bad year. Today's players would simply have their agent call the team and say I deserve a raise! I led this team in 2 out doubles in the month of August in Tuesday night games when the moon was full and the pitcher was right handed!

As far as I'm concerned, like George Will, I'm a Marxist as far as baseball is concerned. The players produce the value, they should get the greatest benefit.

They are all greedy and overpaid - players and owners.

This is America people. If somebody offered you a million dollars tomorrow to do the same job you're currently doing would you say no? Why do we feel that athletes are different from you and me. Yes, they make a ton of money but they provide us with countless hours of entertainment. If people didn't like to watch it they wouldn't get paid like they do, just look at the WNBA.
