05/08/2003 | Okay. I can understand that people don't believe that she is a genious because she only plays the piano. And I have to agree that the rifs are very easy... I picked them up the first time I heard the album. However, It's everything put together that is genious. It IS beautiful music even though it's not the hardest to learn. She also plays many of the other instruments on her album, so she is really a truly talented person. Her voice is beautiful, and I envy her because I play the same kind of music, and sing the same way that she does...only...she probably sounds a lot better! I love the album. It's moving and chilling. A really easy listen.

02/20/2002 | I'm afraid that I'll have to pull a Springsteen80sbaby here-- rating an artist under the category of their c.d. that I don't even have-- only because Alicia hasn't made her way to a musicians/groups category. I get more annoyed by the "hip-hop pianist" every time I see her. People think she is a genius because she sings, writes music and sits at a piano. Here's news for you- the piano is really only part of her image. It's her "gimmick" and if you listen to the piano part of "Falling", it's the same three-note riff over and over. I don't enjoy her music and I don't enjoy the fact that she gets to play these great grand pianos. I try not to brag, but I feel I'm more deserving of playing on those Steinways. Don't mean to be too cynical, but sorry, Alicia.

11/12/2001 | Everyone I know holds Ms. Keys in high esteem! She is incredible, talented, mature, and beautiful! I love her music, and I hope she stays around for a long time! She really can sing, write, play music....she's great! Really truly great! We've got ourselves a keeper here!

09/18/2001 | It is so refreshing to see an artist do well who is so incredibly talented and real. Alicia's voice is to die for, not to mention the fact that she's only 20 years old but managed to birth such an amazing album. This is one fan who is hoping that she'll be around for a long, long time. I can't wait to see her live on SNL at the end of September - 29th I think?... She was awe inspiring on the MTV music video awards.

08/03/2001 | Alicia Keys writes and produces her own music, not many artists are doing that these days. She is beautiful and she sings with raw emotion. Her lyrics are meaningful and the music itself is great. A true soul star.
