Actually, there is no proof that Dr. Freud ever said that. It has been quoted as many other things he said by other people compltely out of context. Just because someone said he said it doesn't make it fact. He was a crack pot in a lot of ways but he was a crack pot that had a big enough ego to record any and everything he ever said, no matter how offensive. Freud had a lot to say about the Irish, but that wasn't one of them.

When singing and dancing and carrying on are virtually national sports, who needs therapy?

The 1st time I read this, many years ago, I was laughing so hard I was nearly in tears. It's as true as the sun is yellow.

One thing I admire about the Irish is they know how to laugh at insults. I don't know why so many people hate the Irish. Maybe Sigmund was angry because the Irish never tipped!

It wouldnt surprise me if old Siggy was just angry because he knew that they knew that psychoanalysis is of no real use whatsoever to begin with. Either that, or he was tossed out of one too many pubs for being a tight-assed twit.

Well, that certainly says something positive about the Irish as far as I'm concerned. Who needs psychoanalysis when Bushmill's and friends will do the trick as well?
