It's always the spouse or the ex. Scott didn't help his case by calling his mistress while he was at a New Year's Eve candlelight vigil for Laci.

Have to say this scum is the lowest of the low. He and any trace or memory of him should be wiped from the face of the earth. He makes me wish we still had public stoning as a punishment.
kattwoman 06/02/2005
the fact that he was devoid of emotion makes him scumbag of the year.

WHICH ARM WILL YOU LIKE THE NEEDLE IN SCOTT?
sfalconer 12/23/2004
Did he kill his wife? Yes he did, he had motive, he had no alibi, he was seen very close to where the bodies were found. All this crap about, not enough evidence is bizzare at best. Those of you who feel this way must be waiting for the video or a signed confession. You all need to hit the golf courses with O.J. to find the real killers.

Let me add a me too to tboneya's pithy observation. The burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt is there for damn good reason, and I don't think it was met in this case. I don't know for a certainty whether Peterson is guilty, and I'd be surprised if anyone else on here knows either. Thinking he probably is, is not the same thing. There's a little more to a complex criminal case than what gets reported in the tabloids. Personally, I think the state got away with one so far, in that their case was won on the preconceptions of the jury. This one will fall on appeal. As to how scummy he is, apparently pretty much. Do I think he killed his wife? Probably. But probably shouldn't be enough to convict.

I can't stand him. The death penalty is a worthy punishment for this lying, cheating, murderous weasel. UPDATE: Ok, he got the death penalty which he probably deserved, but to my surprise I feel a little sorry for him, and I feel very sorry for his parents. I'm sure they never dreamed their son would come to this. Apparently some folks were so thrilled by the jury's decision they cheered. I don't really understand this reaction;it's not like they're celebrating the victory of their favorite team. This is a man's life we 're talking about. I can't say whether he got a fair trial or not because I did not follow it, but I will agree that everyone, even the basest crimiinal, deserves a fair trial.

Tboneya is right, the state did not meet the burden of proof necessary to convict. Its not really a matter of opinion either. They convicted almost solely on circumstantial evidence. And circumstantial evidence, no matter how strong, or how abundant, does not convict according to the law. In fact, I am astounded that Melville did not overthrow the verdict. Petersons conviction represents a flaw in the judicial system. Before you start throwing things, know that I believe him to be guilty. However, neither my intuition, nor anyone elses should dictate life or death for a defendant. I predict that he will get a lesser punishment in the new trial he will most certainly be granted.

Murderer. Liar. Adulterer. Trash.

this guy is taking the fall for some religious cult killing his wife. but just like how it is in ameriKKKa someone has to take the fall, so i guess this frat boy gets to go to jail and get buggered for the rest of his life by other low lifes. the thing that really gets me about this case, no matter if scotty did this or not, is the media and all these religious freaks are treating this kid Connor like a real human--tell you what, when Connor pays a tax then he can be considered a citizen.

He's beyond comtempt. If it had been an accident; something that happened during an argument, it would have been bad enough especially considering her condition. But when this poor girl's body was found, it was sans head and limbs. Imagine that scene for a second and tell me this is a person who deserves mercy. Scummy doesn't begin to define this act.

i say number 5. That jerk killed his pregnant wife and he deserves to die, what more can I say?

A message to Scott Petersen: SHAME ON YOU. Your wife and your unborn son deserved better.
floridagator81 4 03/27/2004
i have it at 3 now (because of the whole mistress thing & the mexico thing), not 5 because he has not been found guilty yet. If he is, i will change this to 5, because only scum kills an unborn child (plus an inoocent woman) if he is guilty, that makes my insides lurch.
LadyShark4534 12/24/2003
Just plain scum straight out. I haven't found anything good about him.
StanUzbeck 11/18/2003
Yes, the things he stands accused of are extremely scummy things to do, and I'd say he's thoroughly guilty of each and every one. I mean, he hasn't been found guilty yet. Or has he? I don't pay close attention to the usual news vehicles, so I may conceivably have missed the verdict. But back to Scott Peterson. I hope that he ends up in prison housed on the particular cell block inhabited by the most undesirable inmates in the joint. At least that's what the police in my area do to scum like him.
zuchinibut 11/16/2003
Killing your wife and unborn child. That sounds like scum to me. I feel sorry for everyone involved in this mess, and hope people are able to come to terms with what happened.
