I don't watch much TV anymore but thats because I don't have time and there isn't much on there that interests me anymore. One of those I used to watch was the original Law and Order and it was the Lenny Briscoe character that I liked. I thought Jerry Orbach was a wonderful actor that was very versatile. It was sad that he was lost to cancer. I think he could have continued with this character for many more seasons.

Lenny is smart and witty. I love him. Jerry Orbach's death is unfortunate, though.

jerry orbach made lenny briscoe real. too me that is one thing that makes an actor good is for the little while that you are watching its the character that is who is alive and that after you appreciate the fine performance of an actor. jerry orbach was one of those actrs. i thought he was great in dirty dancing and was always interested to watch anything he was in cuz i knew i wouldnt be disappointed

Jerry Orbach, or so known on Law and Order Lenny Briscoe, was more than just an actor.....he was an inspiration. To all ages he was there. Now not meaning all little kids watch law and order but he was there in Beauty and the Beast as the candle stick. He was there for the kids in Alladin;King of Thieves where he sung his heart out like in many other musicals. He was there in the FIRST dirty dancing. And previously on Law and Order. He died...this year from cancer, which most of you know. Even though he is gone, he still remains here... from the wonderful inspirations he left us.

He was my favorite part of the original Law and Order. I will miss his wisecracks next season.

The character of Briscoe is so deceptively simplistic. Actually, the creation and development of the character is one of the most remarkable and stunning feats on prime time television. His character is so humane (and therefore likeable) because he is so humanly fallible, so full of past failures and pain. And in true, wonderful L&O fashion, his problems were never rubbed in our noses or coated with a syrupy sweet--they were always realistically and compassionately presented, without the sappy sentimentality of so many other primetime dramas. With Lenny, his compassion and understanding of others' failures and flaws was born out his own mistakes and regrets. We all have a little, or a lot, of Leeny Briscoe in us. Hats off to the writers, of course, but after 12 years, Jerry Orbach should take a deep bow for his consistently excellent portrayal! He will be missed. And by the way, I found the quiet and underplayed scene of his departure MUCH more moving than the sappy, overdone finales (e.g. Friends, Frasier) we often get.i

He's my favorite from that show. I heard he was leaving, that's a big disappointment.

Jerry Orbach's portrayal of Lenny Briscoe is what makes TV worth watching - and there isn't too much of that out there! Law & Order is the best law drama I've ever watched...I still can't decide if it's the stories or is that sound.

Lenny Brisco has an incredible sarcastic streak that makes him the definite star of the show. No one could pull off that character quite like Jerry Orbach.
