i think james garner is a fine actor but i liked him better in movies than i did in this show. i just thought it was boring. 70s shows seemed to play for the 30 and up . i dont remember anything really that was for the younger ones during that time. except for saturday morning cartoons.

I still watch this show if it's not on too late (come on WGN, why 1am?). Extremely believable, well-acted, well-wriiten with unforgettable characters (Angel, Rocky, Dennis, Lance). James Garner was made for this role. It didn't potray Rockford as a rich & well-educated, hunky PI (no offense Magnum), but an everyday working-stiff, living in a mobile home. He had money troubles just like the average joe.

I never liked that show or James Garner.

Ex-con (but actually innocent) Jim Rockford (played by James Garner) was a believable private investigator (by Hollywood standards) who helped root out the bad guys in Los Angeles. When not getting beat up or getting stiffed on his fee, Rockford had to tolerate his good-hearted, yet naive father, snooker the police into helping him on his cases, and suffer through the schemes of his con-man friend Angel. The Rockford Files was originally broadcast from 1974 to 1980.
